NarrateNow

Frequently asked questions

What you need to know before adding NarrateNow to your site. If your question is not answered here, get in touch.

What is NarrateNow?

NarrateNow turns the pages on your website into audio. You add a single script tag, and every page gets an embedded player that reads the content aloud. There is no recording, editing, or podcast setup involved.

What does the audio sound like?

It uses natural, human-sounding voices rather than the flat, robotic narration people associate with older text-to-speech. The best way to judge is to listen, so open our demo article and press play.

What languages does it support?

Today NarrateNow is built for English-language content. If you publish in another language, get in touch and tell us what you need.

Can I choose the voice?

Paid plans let you pick between a male and a female voice. The free plan uses the male voice.

Will it slow down my site?

No. The script is small and loads asynchronously, so it never blocks your page from rendering. Audio is generated once and served from a global CDN, so playback stays fast for every visitor.

How does it know what to read?

NarrateNow automatically detects the main article on each page and skips menus, ads, comments, and sidebars, so listeners hear your writing rather than your navigation.

What if it reads the wrong part of my page?

Most layouts work automatically. If detection picks up the wrong content on your site, email support and we will help you get it configured correctly.

Is my content private? Do you train on it?

Your content is used only to generate the audio you ask for. We don't sell it, repurpose it, or use it to train models. Our Privacy Policy has the full details.

Where is the audio stored?

Generated audio is cached in cloud storage and delivered over a CDN so it loads quickly for your readers. Our Security & data page covers this in more detail.

What platforms does it work with?

Anywhere you can add a script tag, including WordPress, Ghost, Webflow, Squarespace, and custom-built sites. The Install page has step-by-step guides for each.

What counts as a page?

Each unique URL where the player generates audio counts as one page. If you update a page, the audio regenerates but it still counts as a single page.

What happens if I hit my limit or cancel?

If you reach your monthly limit, new pages stop generating audio until your next billing cycle, but audio that already exists keeps playing. You can cancel anytime; your plan stays active until the end of the billing period.

How much does it cost?

The free plan covers 10 new narrations a month, and paid plans start at $9/month. Pages you have already narrated stay live and keep serving — the monthly allowance only applies to new ones. See the Pricing page for the full breakdown.
